SELARONG CAVE YOGYAKARTA
On
July 21, 1825, the Dutch troops led Assistant Resident Chevallier
surrounded the house of Prince Diponegoro in Tegalrejo to catch
Diponegoro. However Pangeran Diponegoro escaped and headed to Selarong. In these places secretly been prepared to be used as a headquarters. Selarong
itself a strategic village located at the foot of a limestone hill,
within about six pal (about 9 km) from the city of Yogyakarta. After the events in Tegalrejo to Kraton, many aristocrats left the palace and joined with Prince Diponegoro. They are descendants of Sultan Hamengkubuwono I, II, and III which constitute not less than 77 people and plus followers.Thus
at the end of July 1825 in Selarong had gathered the noblemen who later
became the commander of the army of Prince Diponegoro. They are Mangkubumi, Prince Adinegoro, Prince Panular, Adiwinoto
Suryodipuro, Blitar, Kyai Mojo, Prince Ronggo, Ngabei Mangunharjo, and
Prince Surenglogo.Pangeran
Diponegoro also ordered Joyomenggolo, Bahuyudo, and Honggowikromo to
mobilize the villagers around Selarong and prepare for war. In this place also prepared a strategy and measures to ensure the targets to be attacked. On July 31, 1825 Prince Diponegoro and Mangkubumi wrote a letter to the community Kedu in order to prepare for war. In the letter he said that it was time Kedu returning to the region after the Yogyakarta Sultanate seized by the Netherlands.
In
Selarong formed several battalions led by Ing Ngabei Joyokusumo, Prince
Prabu Wiromenggolo, and Sentot Prawirodirjo with clothing and different
attributes. Throughout the month of July 1825 almost all suburbs occupied by Diponegoro. The
headquarters of Prince Diponegoro in Selarong led by five triad
consisting of Prince Diponegoro as chairman headquarters, Mangkubumi is
the oldest member as an advisor and housekeeper, Prince Angabei
Jayakusuma as commander schemer and advisors on the battlefield Alibasah
Sentot Prawirodirjo since childhood educated at the Palace and after the war joined with Prince Diponegoro
Diponergoro and Kyai Maja as a spiritual adviser to Prince Diponegoro
troops.On August 7, 1825 Diponegoro troops with a force of about 6,000 people stormed the Yogyakarta State and mastered. However Pangeran Diponegoro did not occupy the city of Yogyakarta Sri
Sultan HB V was rescued and secured in Vredeburg with an escort from the
Sultan.Events
July 21, 1825 in Yogyakarta to the Commissioner-General van der
Capellen, on 24 July 1825. Furthermore, it was decided to appoint
General Lentan H.M. De
Kock as government commissioner for the Sultanate of Yogyakarta and
Surakarta given privileges in military and civilian fields.Various
attempts were made by General De Kock among others wrote a letter to P.
Diponegoro which it invites Prince Diponegoro to make peace. But the invitation was rejected expressly conferred by Prince Diponegoro. With the rejection of the then General De Kock ordered to invade Selarong. But
when the Dutch troops arrived in Selarong, the village was deserted
because of Diponegoro troops have been scattered in various directions. According to the Chronicle, the next Prince Diponegoro set up
headquarters in Dekso which lasted approximately 10 months from the date
of 4 November 1825 until August 4, 1826.During
Selarong forces headquartered in the Netherlands has been attacked
three times in the first attack on July 25, 1825, led by Captain Bouwes.
This
attack is an act of resistance Pangeran Diponegoro in Logorok near
Pisangan Yogyakarta, which resulted in 215 Dutch troops surrendered. The
second attack in September 1825 under the leadership of Major and
Lieutenant Colonel Sellwinj Achenbac and the third attack on 4 November
1825. Each of the Dutch forces attacked the forces of Prince Diponegoro
Selarong then disappeared in caves around Selarong.
Selarong cave located in Orchard Flower Village Putihan Guwosari Pajangan District of Bantul, approximately 14 km south of the city of Yogyakarta.
